By Gail ListonPosted March 31, 2011 17:40:00 Northern Territory Renal Services says its mobile dialysis bus is now fully operational and will be a regular visitor to communities.
The service's director Greg Perry says the bus allows patients to be less dependent on regional hospital facilities.
But he says people should be aware the bus is not designed to provide long-term dialysis care.
He says the aim is to provide services for festivals and sorry business when patients have to be away from access to normal treatment.
"Many of them are in Darwin or Alice Springs, a major demographic centre, for their regular dialysis," he said.
"But this mobile service allows them to travel to their communities for local festivals and so on.
"So it's a way of just providing a little more flexibility to patients and their lifestyle. We call this quality of life."
